Ahmedabad: The mystical path of mantras created in the Kali Yuga by OmGuru stands as a divine synthesis of power (shakti) and realization (karyasiddhi), marking a spiritual milestone in modern times.
While ancient sages of the Satya, Treta, and Dwapar Yugas composed verses and mantras in Sanskrit, Prakrit, and Hindi to guide humanity toward righteousness and divinity, no spiritual seer had ever crafted mantras in the Vadath language. This oversight persisted until the Kali Yuga neared its peak—perhaps because even the celestial gods of Indralok knew that such powerful vibrations in Vadath would only be needed in this age of extreme materialism.
It was then that destiny unfolded. On February 8, 1977, in a humble household in Ahmedabad, a son was born to Ashokkumar Himmatlal Shah, a textile trader, and his wife Pratimaben. The child, Pritesh—now known to millions as OmGuru—would one day revolutionize spiritual healing through mantras.
OmGuru’s early years were filled with joy until, at the age of 8, he was struck by a rare and debilitating illness—juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, a condition that affects one in a million children in India. What followed was relentless suffering: he became bedridden, unable to walk, move, or even feed himself. Despite spending lakhs on treatment—a considerable sum in the 1980s—his family could not reverse his declining health. As pain overtook his body and darkness his mind, only the thought of death brought a strange kind of peace.
Lying on his deathbed, hope came in the form of Jain Acharya Mitranandsurishwarji Maharaj, spiritual guru to both his father and grandfather. The Acharya told him, “Your suffering hides a divine mystery. The gods have chosen you for an extraordinary purpose. Surrender to this calling. Become the medium.” These words struck deep within young OmGuru, awakening his inner resolve to accept pain and embrace the spiritual path.
Despite physical limitations, and with the support of his mother, OmGuru completed his schooling and went on to graduate from L.J. Commerce College in Ahmedabad. He even cleared the UPSC Preliminary Examination, defying 80% physical disability.
Alongside academics, OmGuru immersed himself in the deep study of scriptures, Vedas, Upanishads, and mantra science. On June 1, 1992, he began composing personalized mantras to help alleviate people’s suffering. By July 17, 1996, he formally founded the Omkar Sampraday, giving spiritual seekers a new direction through mantra and energy transmission (mantra shaktipaat).
Over time, OmGuru created powerful compositions like the Omkar Chalisa, now recited by over 3.5 million people worldwide, and other revered texts including:
He has also composed numerous doha, shlokas, and spiritual poetry, touching the hearts of millions.
OmGuru’s journey has never been about personal healing alone. Since college days, he has actively inspired and led social work focused on divyang (differently abled) individuals. His message: “When you heal someone’s suffering, God heals yours,” has become the foundation of his spiritual service.
OmGuru has authored over:
Despite the limitations of his body, OmGuru became a living symbol of mantra science and spiritual empowerment. His devotees regard him not merely as a guru, but as a living energy.
2016 : Conferred the National Award for Divyang Empowerment by then President Dr. Pranab Mukherjee
2019 : Received the Glory of Gujarat Award from then Governor O.P. Kohli for his creation of Omkar Chalisa and service to the differently abled.
OmGuru’s life is a testimony to transforming pain into purpose, disability into divine energy, and despair into boundless faith. For many who have lost hope or stood on the edge of suicide, OmGuru remains a living proof of inner power and spiritual resurrection.
